Bamboo was incredibly en vogue in the Victorian days all over Europe. So shiploads of canes were imported and converted in Paris and London into tables, hall stands and curio cabinets. This became the fashion that had to be imitated by the lower classes, often without using bamboo.
So over the years I have bought ‘bamboo furniture’ made out of wood and even iron. This table I purchased in 2003 from a dealer in Ipswich, England. Some local blacksmith must have been inspired a hundred years ago by Asian spirits. We liked it so much that we asked our great craftsmen to make an exact replica. - prijs op aanvraag
